Background to offering distribution agreements
in the US

Since securing the global rights for Jim Murray’s
Whisky Bible, Dram Good Books has been assessing
the global marketplace in order to develop a realistic
sales and distribution strategy.

Faced with an overwhelming and complicated
traditional sales structure particularly in the US, which
incidentally we think presents one of the biggest
opportunities for the ‘Whisky Bible’; we have decided
to create a simple State by State distribution network.

Offering distributors the flexibility to create truly local
sales and marketing campaigns that reflect local
demographics, cultures and attitudes, we believe our
approach is different, exciting and potentially very rewarding.

US Whiskey Market Facts:

  • Americans buy approximately 560 million bottles of Whiskey per annum
  • Whiskey accounts for almost 30% of all US annual spirit sales
  • Annual whiskey sales in the US stood at $5.3 Billion

Our approach in securing long lasting distribution agreements with our partners is based on a simple four step process:

  • Dram Good Books will agree distribution arrangements based on a simple US State system.
  • Volumes and targets will be agreed using a typical sales/population ratio.
  • Each distributor will then buy agreed volumes at agreed rates.
  • Dram Good Books will provide marketing equity to support distributors and by arrangement for Jim Murray to provide support in person.

Other Jim Murray/Dram Good Books titles may periodically be offered to State Distributors. This will be subject to separate negotiations.
